Explore the Mysteries of Ancient Greece

If you have never been on a journey with Dr. Warter, this is an unprecedented opportunity to visit the birthplace of Western Civilization and use the journey as a way to dive deeply into the mystery of who you are and your connection to humanity.  Dr. Warter will personally lead the trip and conduct a seminar, weaving in the ancient mystical traditions of Greece, Macedonia and even more ancient peoples that somehow created one of the greatest civilizations in mankind's history.  We will visit sacred places, tour the vast galleries and ruins and bring our own sacredness to each place.  The tour will be over both land and sea, guided by expert local tour guides with plenty of time to enjoy the people, culture and landscape of this beautiful country. 


Day 1: Sunday  – April 8th -  Athens

Arrive at the Athens airport and be met by our representative who will transfer you to the hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may have time to explore this ancient city on your own. Athens is full of myths, mysteries, and legends. Steeped with a rich history that spans around 3,400 years, the city is home of many sacred ancient sites, monuments, and landmarks. A fusion of old and new. This evening we will gather as a group for our Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant in the Plaka area. Dining on delicious traditional food. Overnight at our hotel in Athens.  Day 2 – Monday – April 9th – Athens Start a 4 day cruise. Mykonos

 4 night cruise embarking from Piraeus Monday April 9th

Morning transfer to the port of Piraeus  for boarding on the cruise.Depart at 11.30.

First stop is Mykonos (arrive at 18:00hrs), the island of the international “Jet-Set”, famous for its beautiful sandy beaches and incredible night life.At 23:00 depart from Mykonos and sail towards Kusadasi,Turkey.

Day 3 – Tuesday – April 10th  - Kusadasi Patmos.

Two ports of call today, Kusadasi in Turkey and Patmos Island in Greece both filled with important history and sites. Arrive at the port of Kusadasi (07:30hrs) on the Turkish coast where you will  join a tour to ancient *Ephesus Ship sets sail at 13:00hrs for the Island of Patmos, the Island where Saint John the Divine wrote the book of Revelations. Arrival on the Island of Patmos (17:45hrs) and join your tour of the Monastery of Saint John and the Grotto of the Apocalypse (optional) or enjoy your free time at the picturesque town of Scala port.

Day 4 – Wednesday -  April 11th - Rhodes.

Arrive early morning (07:00hrs) at the Island of Knights, Rhodes where you will join a tour to Acropolis of Lindos and the Citadel of the Knights .

Cruise ship sets sail for Crete and Santorini at 18:00hrs.

Day 5 – Thursday – April 12th - Heraklion - Santorini .

Today’s first port of call is the Island of Crete and its capital Heraklion (07:00hrs) where you will have the opportunity to discover the Minoan Palace of Knossos (optional) or discover on your own the “old town” areas of Heraklion, established from medieval times. The Venetian fortress at the harbour gate, strikes visitors first. The pedestrian 25th August Str., a shopping street, is directly opposite the Old Harbour and extends to Lion Square and Morosini Fountain, in the city hub.

Departure at 12:00hrs to the volcanic island of the Cyclades, Santorini, your the last port of call.

Admire upon the cruise ship’s arrival in Santorini (16:30hrs) the spectacular caldera, created by the eruption of the island’s volcano in ancient times and the white washed houses perched on the edge. Discover with your tour (optional) the breathtaking panorama of Oia, the most photographed spot in Greece, known worldwide for its fascinating sunset.

Day 6 – Friday – April 13th - Departure ship for Athens .

Arrive in Piraeus  port at 06:00hrs and after breakfast, disembark your 4 Day Greek Island Cruise. We now begin our land portion of this sacred journey.

Upon departure from the ship we travel by bus the Panathenaic Way, the ancient procession of the goddess, up to the Acropolis. Here, we will visit the magnificent ruins of the Parthenon, visit the Theater of Dionysus, the world’s oldest theater where great plays by Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides were first performed. We then visit the Acropolis Museum, which is home to all the findings and artifacts from this ancient site. The museum itself sits on the archaeological site of Makrygianni and over part of the ruins of Roman and early Byzantine Athens. We then take a break for lunch on your own either at the museum or a nearby restaurant. After lunch we walk to the Agora, the heart of Athens, historically important, the ancient marketplace where Socrates, Plato and Aristotle strolled, and the traditional morning meeting place for the citizens in Athens. Here the people would discuss politics and philosophy, worship at one of the many altars, visit the Temple of Poseidon, and shop at one of the many markets. Today it is one of the quietest and most meditative places in Athens, with magnificent views of the Parthenon atop the Acropolis. Overnight at our hotel in Athens (B,D)

Day 7: Saturday – April 14th - Athens to Delphi

This morning we depart at 9.00am for Delphi. We will stop en route at Eleusis to visit to the Sanctuary of Eleusis, one of the greatest shrines in honor of Demeter and Persephone. Here we will learn about secret rites and initiation ceremonies that honored the wandering Demeter and her daughter Persephone who was held hostage in the underworld by the god Hades. Their drama was enacted here and witnessed by initiates under a vow of secrecy. Sophocles remarked that “happy is man who has seen the secret rites,” which were intended to reveal the mysteries of rebirth.

Upon arrival in Delphi, we will settle into our hotel and then have a little time to stroll around the town and do some shopping before gathering for dinner. Overnight in Delphi.  (B,D)

Day 8: Sunday – April 15th - Delphi, Olympia

Today we depart at 9.00am to experience the Oracle of Delphi, also called the Pythia, or the Sibyl, who uttered prophecies for pilgrims who came to her temple for over twelve hundred years. We will walk from the small town of Delphi and wind our way up the ancient Sacred Way to the home of the Oracle at the Temple of Apollo. Here, we will dwell on the threshold of one of the greatest pilgrimage sites in the world where everyone will have time to approach the temple, in the spirit of the ancient pilgrims who brought their deepest questions here for 1200 years. We will also experience the healing energies at the Temple to Athena, this temple is dedicated to protecting women. We then visit one of the most beautiful stadiums in ancient Greece, and the old theater. Finally, we will visit the Delphi Museum, which features the original stone omphalos, symbolic of Delphi being the navel of the ancient world, and see the magnificent bronze sculpture of the Charioteer found in a shipwreck in the 19th century.

After lunch, Olympia, a sanctuary of ancient Greece, and home to the Olympic Games of the classical period. Olympia was considered a national shrine for the Greeks and housed many treasures and works of art ranging from temples, monuments, sacred altars, theaters and statues. Upon arrival at our hotel we will settle in and then enjoy dinner.  Overnight in Olympia. (B,D)

Day 9: Monday – April 16th - Olympia

Today we depart at 9.30am to discover the site of the ancient Olympics and spend the day visiting the ancient gymnasium, and the Palestrina (wrestling forum). At the Temple of Hera, where the Olympic torch is lit every four years, we will gather for a meditation.

We will then visit the ruins of the Temple of Zeus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and finally enter the excavated stadium, the origin site of all Western athletics. Breaking for lunch on your own, we will dine at a nearby restaurant. After lunch, we walk through an old olive grove for a visit of the Olympics Museum, which features a collection of Olympic torches, medals, and memorabilia of the Baron Pierre de Coubertin, the visionary who revived the Modern Olympic Games in the belief it would revive the spirit of the well-lived life.

We return to the hotel to freshen up, followed by dinner. This evening, stroll through Olympia on your own, or we may visit a local tavern for traditional music. Overnight in Olympis.  (B,D)

Day 10: Tuesday – April 17th – Athens

This morning we depart at 9.30am stopping at Corinth, home of King Sisyphus, and the infamous temple in honour of Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty, and the spectacular nearby canal. Overnight in Athens where we will share a farewell dinner. (B,D)

Day 11 – Wednesday – April 18th - Departure .

Transfer to airport for our home journey.
